AV Linux MX Edition

Install and Create:

AV Linux MX Edition (AVL-MXE) is a downloadable and installable shared snapshot ISO image file of my own personal Audio/Video Workstation Operating System based on the incomparable MX Linux with many additional customizations and tweaks. Currently AVL-MXE is my own Respin and is not an official variant of antiX/MX. This is a project I have been actively working on and refining since about 2007 and it is prepared and pre-configured to allow you to “Install and Create”. It is really intended to just be that simple, an AV Content Creation system prepared and shared by someone with practical experience in setting such things up.  As its sole maintainer I don’t claim to have any unique credentials as a Linux System Administrator and am merely doing this in my spare time as a hobby. That said countless hours of time and work have been invested in setting it up as effectively as possible. It should be looked at as a “Custom Shop” OS… a little off the beaten path but well worth checking out!

Read All About It:

Before downloading AVL-MXE it is essential to read it’s User Manual, Most FAQ’s and many specific operational details including Installation are covered in it’s illustrated pages. The User Manual is also included within AVL-MXE and can be found in the ‘Accessories’ Menu.

Support:

AV Linux is developed and provided free of charge as an independent spare time project. With a full-time job and other pursuits I don’t have consistent daily time to run my own User Forum for AVL-MXE. Questions and issues with AV Linux can be posted in the ‘MX Respins‘ forum section of the MX Forum or the ‘Linux Distributions‘ section of the Linuxmusicians forum. I will answer as time allows, it may take some time.

*IMPORTANT! – Username and Password are ‘demo’  Root Password is ‘root’. The 32bit version of AVL-MXE uses the SLiM Login Manager and requires Manual Login, the 64bit uses lightDM and will Auto Login. The full preempt RT Kernel in AVL-MXE does not work well with recent versions of Virtualbox, it is strongly discouraged to use AVL-MXE Virtualized!

All ISO’s are signed with gpg so you can verify their authenticity after downloading the ISO and its accompanying .sig file. You’ll need to add my public key from a keyserver first to complete the verification. Open a terminal and paste the following to import my public key.

gpg --keyserver hkps://keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 0xDF1084F762F14A43

Alternately, right-click and ‘Save-As’ the public key file here.

You can then verify the authenticity of an ISO by issuing a command like the one below in a terminal, opened in the same folder as the downloads.

gpgv --keyring ~/.gnupg/pubring.gpg <name-of-file.iso.sig>
Distribution of the  ISO files would not be possible without:
Anahata,  Jeremy Jongepier. Bytemark, linuxaudio.org

*It is important to note that AV Linux is not a commercial product and is maintained simply out of the love of doing it, as a spare time project it comes with absolutely no guarantees to see consistent or future development or to be anything other than what is described here.
