AV Linux (AVL) and MX Moksha (MXM) 25 have been released after a long and laborious development period. There are now two flavors of Enlightenment for the E-curious; AV Linux remains with Enlightenment 0.27.1 and new addition ‘MX Moksha’ comes with Moksha 0.4.1 from the popular Bodhi Linux project. AV Linux is slightly scaled back but is still presented as a full Content Creator production-ready system and MX Moksha contains the AVL utility infrastructure but a minimal basic complement of Applications so it can easily be molded into what the User wants. Both ISO’s are built on an MX Linux 25/Debian Trixie base with Liquorix kernels. Visually AVL appeals to the modern ‘Flat’ aesthetic with it’s new ‘Ease’ themes by MX Forum member ‘Melber’ while MXM delights in keeping the lush curvy skeuomorphic look of Bodhi Linux alive with it’s ‘Moksha Green’ theme. A great deal of work has gone into refining and enhancing the File Manager agnostic File Actions and extending the core functionality of the File Manager (Thunar) to do an unprecedented number of system tasks. Exciting new ‘Open With’ features include running Virtual Machines with ‘Quickemu’ and downloading Videos with YT-DLP all from Thunar! Rapid breaking changes in YT-DLP are now handled by an utility to update both yt-dlp and Deno from their respective websites. Because of the current boondoggle with Wine and the ‘yabridge’ Plugin bridge a special optional Wine4VST utility has been created to install a working Windows VST Plugin setup in both AVL and MXM.
AVL and MXM are both maintained by me daily as a single maintainer, but behind the scenes are the actual talented and generous people that make it possible for a very unlikely developer like myself to do this.. From the MX Linux project: dolphin_oracle, fehlix, Stevo, Adrian, Melber, and CharlesV. From the Bodhi Linux project Stefan Uram and Robert Wiley. From the Enlightenment Desktop Environment Carsten Haitzler. To the small but mightly group of AV Linux supporters and subscribers thanks for keeping the server and site alive and your uncommon generosity keeps my faith from fading. If you use AVL or MXM daily I would ask that you consider contributing to the projects in the spirit of reciprocity.
The AV Linux Website has been freshened up with much more information and a new MX Moksha website has been added. I am not going to repeat all of the technical details here, please read the site info carefully and watch the ‘Getting Started’ Videos before asking for help. My efforts are now focused on the new AVL and MXM 25 releases, all previous releases have been pulled from the VPS and AVL 23 should be considered in ‘maintenance’ mode until it’s Debian Bookworm EOL, it will not be receiving any further work from me. I have also pulled the AVL 23 YouTube content and am now hosting the Videos on my own hosting. The unforgivable wanton scraping of Social Media and Big Tech sites for AI training has really made me want to withdraw from all platforms and I have also made the painful decision to remove many years of music productions from Spotify and other streaming services with the exception of Bandcamp (for now). OK, enough about that!
Download and enjoy AVL and MXM from HERE
Best, Glen
